What our clients say

“Having various carers supporting my mother-in-law following her diagnosis of Vascular Dementia was very difficult, particularly as many showed little interest or empathy towards her and were obviously unable or unwilling to meet her needs. When Bernie of Amethyst Home Care entered our lives she gave more than 100% and despite my mother-in-law’s inability to communicate showed her such patience and kindness which we felt greatly improved her quality of life.”

“Amethyst Home Care look after my father (83) who has dementia. They have been visiting him twice a day for the last 18 months. My father, sister and I are all incredibly impressed and happy with the service. There is nothing the team will not do for my father whether it’s facilitating trips to the pub, games evenings, appointments for physiotherapy and the doctor, cooking wonderful meals, helping address household issues such as a broken phone or TV. They are just so kind and caring and no request is ever too much trouble. I would highly recommend Amethyst Home Care Services to anyone!”

“Bernie has been visiting Dad twice a day for 18 months and has recently appointed another carer 3 nights a week. Dad is very pleased with his additional carer who is also a good cook and conversationalist. Bernie is very good at matching clients to carers. She is an absolute pleasure to deal with and is 100% reliable. She has never let my Dad down even in the snow!

“Bernie Kerchhoff came to work for my Mum and Dad in July 2010 at a time when my Dad was in a state of exhaustion from looking after my Mum, who was suffering from chronic Osteoporosis, advanced stage Dementia and the after effects of several minor strokes. Bernie has been utterly amazing. Bernie was so patient with Mum and ultimately, Mum came to trust and rely on Bernie for washing, meals and good company. The quality of care which she provided until Mum died peacefully in Bernie’s arms was above and beyond the call of duty and will never be forgotten.”

“I was introduced to Amethyst Home Care in May 2010 when needing a carer for my mother who was in the advanced stages of dementia, had limited mobility and late stage osteoporosis. The quality of care she received by the Amethyst team was outstanding. It was highly professional, caring and very sensitive to her needs and ours. At this stage my mother was not easy to please and yet she warmly accepted all the care she received from Amethyst. As a family we were also very grateful because the high quality of their support was one of the reasons she was able to die at home rather than in a hospital.”

“Since October 2010 Bernie has looked after my Dad who is 83 and suffers from Dementia. Bernie comes twice a day, preparing breakfast in the morning and doing light domestic duties and always chatting to my Dad. She comes again in the evening and prepares delicious evening meals, pours him a glass of wine and talks to him. She also takes him on an outing once a week, usually to his favourite pub for lunch, arranges for him to meet with his friends, takes him to the Doctor when needed and plays card games and dominoes one or two evenings a week. Bernie’s commitment to Dad’s level of care is quite simply amazing – he is a very lucky man.”

“I am extremely pleased with the care workers provided by Amethyst Home Care. They have adequately met my father’s needs and have gone above and beyond the call of duty.”

“Amethyst Home Care provided comfort and companionship in our absence, and made a big difference in my father’s life. Their service has given us freedom in our lives.”
